Google chrome freezes windows 7

I'm really regretting buying a new computer. I purposely waited until Windows 7 had been out for several years. It has been going on with me for well over a year, the problem of Google and Yahoo Mail. A new problem has developed now, I can not access my folders in the new Yahoo Mail. In order to do so, I have to revert to Yahoo Mail Classic or open a new browser.

I still have not found any fix for these errors, and again, it seems that Google is the least interested party to try to resolve the problem and apply a fix for them.

I have been a google chrome user for years. However, this have become a significant problem in the last month, where chrome freezes up when creating a new email in yahoo. I am now switching over to IE which works fine. Looks like Google will go the way of Netscape.. Glad to hear that you are not having any issues with the crashes. I have never uploaded photos to any of the Google products. I will come back and give this a test when time allows. I tried a complete fresh Install of Windows 7 and only installed Chrome, and still can't upload "some" photos, while it works with other Browsers.

Here are my files to test for anyone who wants to try help track down this issue:. It has been rarely occurring with me since I implemented this fix. Maybe once a week or so. That is using Windows 7, bit. The crashes that I am getting, the browser freezing up, seems to be related to maybe another issue. I have been researching it, but have not come up with any solution as of yet.

I have tried several suggestions, but they have not worked. Hello, I am experience a similar problem. I have not had such a bad crash that I have been forced to coldly restart my laptop, but it happens daily that Chrome crashes and simply freeze everything with the program to do. The only thing I can do is to force Chrome to shut down by right clicking the Chrome key in the "bottom stripe" Do not know what the correct name of it, I mean the line of programs in the bottom of the screen.

Then when I open the program again it works fine but the daily crashes are getting very annoying. After reading through what you have written and some of the comments I seems like there is nothing to do about it, but I would still like to ask if you know any way to make it happen less often?

I am using Windows 7 and I think it is the bit but I am not sure. I am not too good at computers when it comes to things like this, I am just an everyday user. I would be thankful for an answer, does not matter if it is a good one or not. Thank you in advance. Hello gonce I am sorry that you experienced the same issue. I presume you are using Windows 7 bit? Mostly i use Mozilla as my browser but after reading your post i have tried Google chrome in my PC and yes it crashes after few hours of nonstop working.

Hello jmondo. It certainly appears that the overall majority of the Chrome issues and Windows 7 evolve around the bit addition. I had a problem pulling my Google Chrome bookmarks into Firefox.

Even when done, I have to access those bookmarks via a folder in the Firefox bookmarks options. I don't see a easy to find and use bookmark list. It is interesting to note that I can and do follow the views on this article daily and I can say from those stats, Chrome is acting up very badly at this time.

When there are new issues as well as this issue striking many folks, the views simply go up on this article. Same thing happening to my wife's google chrome on her HP Windows 7 64 bit for months. I don't have any problem on my own computer when I recently downloaded W 7 32 bit.

Finally switched my wife back over to IE 8 again. Alsovery frustrating that there was no way to transfer bookmarks easily from Google chrome to IE8.

Google makes it difficult as possible. IE8 can't even identify google chrome on our computer as a browser option when it asks if I want to import bookmarks from another browser.

It can find only Safari! We even subscribed to Geeksquad as we thought this was a virus. They scanned the computer twice and found nothing but relatively harmless spyware. On the bright side at least the computer's running faster. They must have fixed the registry a bit. You are most welcome, gnef. As I find more solutions, I will share them with an update here or write a new article about them. Hi Dale. Thanks for the quick response : I hope you will be able to find a fix for yourself and those who are affected soon :.

Hello gnef. With the exception of applying this fix, I do not know of any other fix that is out there. I am starting to experience some similar issues as you describe as well. What you describe is what the "flash solution" originally fixed in the earlier versions of Chrome, but it appears to be reappearing but is not related to the flash player. I am thinking it may well be another add on, but I have not had the time to try to research this issue yet. It sounds like you have the same OS as I do so I am thinking it still may be Windows 7 bit related.

Somehow there seems to be conflict after conflict between that OS and Google Chrome. I am sorry I don't readily have a solution available at this time. Waits for around 20 minutes, to see if there are any crash reports generated or if Chrome recovers itself. But nothing happens. After the reboot, when I open Chrome, it just says I didn't shut down my Chrome properly, and ask if I want to do restore my previous tabs.

I applied your fix, by disabling Chrome's inbuilt Flash, but my Chrome still crash with the above symptoms. I did contact you for more clarification and exact descriptions and such.

Thank Goodness, I have had panic attack when it happened Sat, then bordered on migraine today, I was up 18 hours doing all I could to fix it. Thank you and my husband says the same for helping with this, computer problems of a big nature always send me into a frenzy. Thank goodness in another way for Hubpages friends, which I did a hub on the other day!!!!!!

I like your profile as well Please write to me, you know how to do it!! My Chrome crashed on Saturday, I had a panic attack. It was 1 in the morning. I took program off, have tried repeatedly to get the new one to work, even unsynced my google and everything. I have to stop working on it right now, but there is nothing there now, there was before I unsynced it. I am afraid IE is going to crash and restore it with HP windows discs only 6 weeks or so ago.

I have no warranty now, this baby is mine. I will be here again tonight, right now, have to rest so I won't have any more panic disorder symptoms. Thank you and I hope you will write me or at dminton gmail.

God Bless you if you help me, all of the forums are just there with no one to reply. Hello Mike! When I restart Chrome, I "normally" get the automatic "restore tabs" option, but not always.

Thanks for the insight for those other times. From my understanding, a cold start disrupts the Windows files hence the BSOD that you get at times, blue screen of death. Basically that is when you are asked if you would like Windows to fix any errors that were created by the cold start. I, with certification in CompTIA and all, would advise that you only cold start when you have no other option.

With Chrome errors, which seem to escalate even more as time goes by, cold starts are "usually" the only option as everything will lock up. I see the options but when I try, nothing happens. I do believe that Chrome is blocking the import in some manner hoping to keep us locked into Chrome. My experience with the MANY glitches and problems with Chrome is that Google Chrome forums staff and tech support could care less and rarely even address the problem and when they do, it is not a "simple" solution.

You are told to actually do some in depth programming to resolve the issue. Totally unacceptable by me. I apologize for the informal punctuation but i am also a challenged typist as well! Hello Helena. I understand the frustration without a doubt. My original laptop was from Dell and ordered with Windows Vista Premium on it. I was happy. However, while under warranty, the laptop developed some issues that Dell could not troubleshoot, so they replaced the laptop. The replacement came with Windows 7 bit.

I would not have purchased it myself. I was content with Vista. Some of the issues certainly could be related to the MS updates as you mention. Hopefully, everything will mellow out soon and work together harmoniously!

I too have been revisited by the problem. For me it seems to happen every time MS forces a Windows update on my computer. I have turned off every single type of automatic operating system and application update that I can, but periodically Windows 7 STILL pushes through a Definition update of Windows Defender.

I cannot figure out how to obliterate all traces of Defender so that my computer can stay stable for any length of time. Short version: I dread the day that I bought a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit. The conflict seems to be compatibility issues between Chrome and Windows 7 bit.

My problem was going on as soon as Dell sent me a replacement laptop that had the Windows 7 64 bit on it versus what I had previously. My previous laptop was Vista with no problems or conflicts with Chrome. I think it may be an ad on or something that creates the flash crash.

Not sure however. The fix mentioned here has helped me. Every so often I get the crash but not as it was previously.

However, I am still contemplating reverting back to Firefox or IE. I would have done so already if I could figure out out to transfer my bookmarks to either one. The instructions for Firefox did not work at all that they offer on their site.

I have used Google since day one, about 10 years ago, and Chrome since it became available. I have Windows 7 64 bit and it started crashing the computer about 60 days ago. I since am trying IE9 and have had no crashes for a week. I wonder whether Microsoft added something to patches or if an add on is causing the issue. I have posted a video update that may be the solution to this problem.

I have implemented the rather simple fix and now time will tell if it has worked. As mentioned the crashes are not daily or any given time Hello Alocsin. I am glad to hear that you are one of those who are not having the problems. Since writing this hub I have experienced the problem one more time, two crashes in a row. It is very hard to tell when it will happen and what the cause is.

I have continued my research and find it is still wide spread with other users and no solution has been found as of yet. I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue. I have Chrome on my Windows 7 machine and have experienced no problems with it.

Voting this Up and Interesting. Hello RoyalWhiskers! This solution can also fix Chrome running slow issue. If blocked by Windows Firewall, Chrome will stop responding as well. In this way, you would better add Google Chrome to the exception list to allow it to work on your PC.

Search firewall in the search box and then stroke the Enter. You can see Chrome enjoys the private and public network. In some cases, the DNS cache corrupted will also affect the browser, making Chrome not responding on Windows You would better manage to flush the DNS cache to see if it can fix Chrome not working properly.

Type in Command Prompt in the search box and then right click it to Run as administrator. When booting up again, start Google Chrome and open tabs to see if Chrome not responding remains.

Normally, users will use some extensions on Google Chrome, like Adblocker. But it is found that sometimes, these extensions will bring Chrome virus and prohibit it from running. So you might as well try disabling the extensions for Chrome. Then uncheck the box or boxes of Enable to disable Chrome Extensions. In case any malware or corrupted system files that cause Chrome not work, there is a surge of need to perform a full scan for your PC.

Here it is strongly recommended to make full use of Advanced System Care to automatically detect and fix problematic files, software, registries, etc. This tool is an all-in-one system optimizer, in some cases, it can even fix your Chrome error. Download , install and run Advanced SystemCare. This can cause crashing, freezing, or Chrome may not open at all. To see if this is the case, right-click the taskbar and choose Task Manager.

Right-click on the top-level Google Chrome process the one with the number next to it and select End Task. This will close all running Chrome processes, free up RAM space, and allow you to relaunch Chrome again. This can help free up even more RAM space. Another common issue that causes Chrome to crash or freeze are malicious or poorly designed extensions.

Because of this, the easiest solution is to disable all extensions and then enable only the ones you really need one at a time. Uninstall it to fully repair Chrome. Chrome has a secret weapon against this; an embedded anti-malware scanner that will scan your computer and find any problem apps.

This will open a window where you can launch the Chrome malware scan. Just select the Find button to start the scan. Just select the Remove button to the right of the app name to remove it.

This will open a window with a warning that all Chrome settings will be reset.
