Commonwealth games role specific training

At a high level, the program was broken into four parts. The WOW was an opportunity for the GC volunteers to get an introduction to the Games brand and what would be expected of them. Some 5, of the total workforce attended. The WOW occurred over two days, with four sessions delivered.

Training was designed to be done mostly online — in fact, it was the first Games in the history of the Commonwealth that had an online training component. However, given the immensely practical nature of the roles, there were a number of face-to-face components too.

A range of volunteer roles had a mandatory requirement to attend training. The training involved teaching them how to respond to real life scenarios and managing staff, and conflict resolution. The program has been described as innovative, and user-friendly. Birmingham and the West Midlands is a community of communities, home to more than nationalities.
