I don't know why your 32bit Windows 7 won't activate. I went the dual boot route using the Release Candidate of Windows 7. It'll be "crippled" in a month or so, and die in June. The "real" Windows 7 license is good for only one install, so you'll need to choose between 32 and 64, or buy a second license if you wish to use both.
